“People have the misconception that heroin users are dirty, strippers or are people on the streets with needles sticking out their arms,” said Lockport City Court Judge William Watson. “But they are us; our neighbors, relatives and friends.”
On January 18th and March 11th, we will hold one-day sessions at the Newman Center at the University at Buffalo, North Campus. January’s session is designed for pastors and lay ministers and March’s session is aimed at families whose loved one is suffering with addiction issues. While there is no foreseeable end in sight for the opiate crisis—and we cannot cure this problem—we can provide effective treatment in the form of one-on-one and family counseling, community education and training for clergy and lay people to use within their congregations.
